( Brief & approach )

Salt asked for a twelve-page photo essay for their winter issue with a single brief: “the coast nobody visits in January.”

I spent three weeks walking the same stretch of Atlantic coastline at low tide, mostly before nine in the morning when the fog was still sitting on the water. I shot on one fixed lens so the whole story would share a single point of view.

The essay ran as the issue’s opening feature, with the cover frame chosen for the magazine’s annual print edition.
